With the summer season comes employers adding summer help in the form of young workers and those new employees come with some extra risks.
A worker under the age of 25 is twice as likely to be injured on the job. In 2011, more than 300 young people were killed on the job. As an employer, you can take a few basic steps to reduce the risk of injury for these young folks.
Since many summer jobs involve outdoor activities, three words employers need to keep in mind; water, rest and shade. Providing plenty of access to water, protection from the sun and frequent breaks will greatly reduce the chances of heat-related injuries.
